Rumours of Kyouka’s retirement were revealed in early January. Now I know this is true… Kyouka is an ambassadress of Tatcha, a cosmetic company which produces great skin care. It seems they will have to get a new geiko, but who is able to replace Kyouka…?
Maybe it sounds stupid but I feel a connection between myself and Kyouka somehow - I follow her career from the very beginning (2008) as she is the same age as me, I just started my dull high school years while she made her debut in Gion Kobu, making her way into a fabulous and elegant lifestyle. I was always happy to see her bright face that brought me many smiles during hard times.
Oh okay, it’s a sort of a rant now, but yeah I’m so sad to watch her go. Kyouka will dance in Miyako Odori 2014 and then she will leave her famous okiya, Tsurui san.
