Usually there aren’t. There is a ceremony called Hiki Iwai (basically like goodbye greetings) when the geiko will go and thank the ochayas who supported her during her work, but this is only done if the geiko has reached the Nenki-age (end of service or end of contract time) and wants to retire.
In case the geiko or maiko has not reached the end of service/contract, then they will leave without doing the official Hiki Iwai.
Some of them after retirement open their own bars or establishments inside the hanamachi, some of them might even become okaasan of their okiya or okamisan of an ochaya, while the others totally leave the hanamachi and get a normal job or go back to their hometown ; for example Mameyuri retired and left to her town to help her parents in their business.
