Holy Sakkô. My last visit to the German drugstore dm almost made me choke when I passed by the make-up counters.
According to Catrice’s newest campaign, this is what Geisha style looks like. We’ve got typical Geisha make-up colours like green and purple, applied in the typical Geisha way - sharp edges and our all-time favourite application method of “As long as it covers at least half of your face, you’re doing it right.
If you look closely at the women on the right side of the picture in the purple short dress, she looks like she’s wearing an Obi. But hey, it’s NEO GEISHA, so we’ll tie it in the front! Like, that’s so Gion Kôbu!
There are also two black chopsticks lying there on the counter. Those are kajal pens in chopstick shape. That means they are super long and probably very hard to work with. But hey, this is what Geisha use, I am sure. And either way, we can stick them into our loose bun when dressing up as Geisha next time.
If they had at least included a nice red eyeshadow in their product line, I might have forgiven them.
Or maybe a very light powder to subtly brighten up the face to have at least SOME sort of connection with Geisha style. But not even that.
Oh well, at least there’s nail polish in Pontochô’s newest trend nail colours: green and purple. It’s like every maiko goes crazy over those.
Goooood, no.
Just no.
That’s so Gion Kobu :D
