Walking through Gion, you will notice these beautiful porcelain skinned women in kimonos floating in between the many tea houses. These are Geisha. They are usually running errands or travelling to their next designated destination as this is what they are hired to do. To my horror, I witnessed a Geisha who was at the traffic light waiting to cross the road when she was literally ambushed by a group of people next to her wanting to take her picture. Obviously shocked and annoyed, once the light was green, she tried to side step them to cross the street but she was unfortunately chased by said group. The Gion locals shook their heads in shame as these Geisha are respected members of society, not animals at the zoo. To all photographers out there, please keep this in mind next time you are lucky enough to catch a glimpse of these beautiful people. #seanmelinjapan @melong88 #geisha #gion #kyoto #dontbeadick (at 祇園四条駅 (Gion-shijo Sta.))
