We can see Tomitsuyu in the front and many other familiar faces.
I think ikebana is such an important skill for maiko to study because it teaches them to be present, and to slow down and give full attention to each individual guest during ozashiki. Geiko are famous for their hospitality and elephant-like memories.
Tsurui sisters:Marika and Satsuki
I heard Satsuki will have erikae in February next year!
Exciting news! Maiko Fumino has just started wearing the sakkou hairstyle which means she will become a geiko within two weeks!

What is this?
My goal is to create an international fan club for the geimaiko community, similar to other celebrity fan clubs: I want us to join together to promote understanding of geimaiko in our local communities, by giving presentations at conventions, writing articles for magazines, etc. I’d also like to set up a system of periodically sending small gifts and messages of support to our favorite geiko and maiko; possibly running an annual fundraiser for donations to the Kenban.

Today’s Kotohajime in Gion Kobu at Yachiyo Inoue’s house
Yachiyo Inoue is the dance master in Gion Kobu. Every 13th December she opens her house for her apprentices (geiko and maiko from Gion). They receive brand new dance fan for her, chat with Inoue san and eat rice cakes. Kotohajime event is traditionally a sign of “New Year’s preparations” as it means “getting started”.
